GS Unveils Employee-Developed 'Safety AI'... Free Access for SMEs

GS Power's "AIR" Wins Minister of Employment and Labor Award
Risk Assessment AI... Completed in Just Three Minutes
Utilizing the No-Code AX Platform "MISO"

GS Group is distributing its in-house developed safety management artificial intelligence (AI) agent, "AIR" (AI Risk Assessment), free of charge to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The initiative aims to raise the overall level of industrial safety by sharing field-driven AI transformation experiences and know-how with SMEs, where AI adoption has been relatively slow.

GS Power announced on January 15 that it was selected as an exemplary case for spreading process safety management (PSM) safety culture and received the Minister of Employment and Labor Award at the 'Employment and Labor Administration Merit Award Ceremony' held on the 14th at the Central Regional Employment and Labor Office. The introduction of "AIR," which integrates AI into work risk assessments, was highly praised for simultaneously improving the efficiency and quality of safety management.

AIR is a service that uses AI to analyze the risks associated with tasks performed at industrial sites. By entering the task name and a brief description, the generative AI identifies the work process and automatically suggests potential risk factors, risk levels, and preventive safety measures. There is no longer a need to manually review the Industrial Safety and Health Act and work manuals to prepare documents, as was previously required.

Since August last year, GS Power has been utilizing AIR by integrating it into its internal systems. The time required for risk assessments has been reduced to about three minutes. The quality of assessments, which used to vary significantly depending on the skill level of the person in charge, can now be maintained at a consistent standard. A company representative explained that as repetitive documentation tasks have decreased, employees are now able to devote more time to on-site inspections and actual safety management activities.

AIR originated from an idea proposed by five GS Power employees at the 3rd GS Group Hackathon in 2024. These employees, who work in safety and mechanical fields, developed AIR without any coding by utilizing GS Group's proprietary no-code AX (AI Transformation) platform, "MISO." This is a case where field personnel directly addressed issues they identified on site.

GS has decided to donate AIR free of charge to SMEs in light of this award. The decision is intended to help small businesses, which often lack safety management personnel and expertise, establish more systematic safety management systems using AI. GS also plans to collaborate with the Ministry of Employment and Labor to provide AIR briefings and hands-on training sessions for SMEs.

A GS Group representative stated, "AIR is an AI agent created by field employees who directly recognized its necessity, making it an AX case that prioritizes the field over technology. We hope that SMEs will also experience the benefits of AI-based safety management, which will provide practical help in narrowing the safety gap at industrial sites."

Meanwhile, GS has introduced the no-code AX platform "MISO" across the entire company, creating an environment where even employees without IT knowledge can directly develop AI agents and work automation tools. Currently, there are about 140 employee-developed AI tools in actual operation at affiliate sites.
