A Bold Challenge for a Five-Month Beginner... Seohyun to Perform Violin Solo at Lotte Concert Hall

Seohyun, an actress and former member of Girls' Generation, will take the stage at the Lotte Concert Hall-known as a sanctuary of classical music-as a violinist. This is a bold move for her, as she is an amateur musician just five months into learning the instrument.

Her agency, Dream E&F, announced on January 14 that Seohyun will perform as a violin soloist at the “8th Regular Concert of the Sol Philharmonic Orchestra,” which will be held on March 13 at Lotte Concert Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

This performance is drawing attention for both Seohyun’s background and her unique choice of repertoire. Despite being a beginner with just over five months of experience, she will play Vittorio Monti’s “Czardas.” Based on a Hungarian folk dance, the piece is characterized by a slow, melancholic introduction and a dramatically fast-paced finale-making it quite challenging for a novice to perform.

The Sol Philharmonic Orchestra, which will accompany Seohyun, is also composed not of professional musicians, but of working professionals and ordinary people who simply love music. The orchestra’s identity, rooted in pure passion for music, is expected to be further strengthened by Seohyun’s participation.

Seohyun shared, “Rather than showing the finesse of a professional musician, I want to convey the raw but sincere passion of someone who truly enjoys music. I hope that through this challenge-which may seem reckless-many people will feel closer to classical music and discover new joy in it.”

In addition to Seohyun’s collaboration, the concert conducted by Cho Sangwook will feature other beloved classics such as Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 and “Spring” from Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons.”

Debuting in 2007 as a member of Girls’ Generation and rising to the top of K-pop, Seohyun later transitioned into acting, showcasing a wide range of performances in dramas such as “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” and “I Stole the Male Lead’s First Night.”
