On January 15, independent research firm GL Research analyzed that Chips&Media is entering a phase of mid- to long-term growth, driven by the advancement of its AI-based video processing technology and the expansion of its global references among autonomous driving and mobile clients.
Chips&Media is the leading domestic video IP company specializing in semiconductor IP for video processing. The company has established a stable revenue model by combining licensing and royalty structures. With the rapid increase in demand for high-definition and high-efficiency video processing fueled by the spread of AI, the company is elevating its technological competitiveness, focusing on next-generation video IP.
The AI-based ISP unveiled at CES 2026 attracted market attention for its architecture, which moves away from conventional hardware-fixed video processing and enables continuous performance and feature upgrades via software updates.
Park Changyoon, a researcher at GL Research, stated, "In the autonomous driving sector, references are rapidly expanding, particularly among global automotive semiconductor companies. The company has secured additional clients by signing a new IP license agreement with a Japanese global automotive semiconductor firm, and is broadening the adoption potential of its ADAS and autonomous driving video processing IP based on its collaboration experience with existing clients in China and Europe."
He added, "The structural environment in which video processing is becoming increasingly important in autonomous driving cameras and central processing SoCs is considered favorable for the company."
Visible achievements are also emerging in the mobile sector. Video IP has been applied to mobile chipsets for major global clients, resulting in the commencement of royalty revenue in earnest, and there is also potential for expansion to next-generation chipsets. This demonstrates the competitiveness of the company's video IP beyond automotive and into the mobile domain, strengthening the foundation for future sales growth as references expand.
Researcher Park analyzed, "Chips&Media has simultaneously achieved technological evolution centered on AI ISP and the expansion of references among autonomous driving and mobile clients. Given the nature of the IP business, where royalties accumulate after licensing, the expansion of references is highly likely to lead to mid- to long-term performance growth."
