The Hyeonchungsa Shrine Management Office of the National Heritage Administration announced on January 15 that it will recruit 50 participants for the 8th Hyeonchungsa Youth National Heritage Guardianship Program until February 6.

This program, organized in collaboration with Seed Coop, a youth education social cooperative, is designed to allow participants to experience the spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and to promote the historical value of Hyeonchungsa Shrine. The recruitment is open to students from 4th grade in elementary school up to high school students. Applicants can download the application form from the Hyeonchungsa Shrine Management Office website and submit it via email. Selection will primarily be based on document screening, but online interviews may be conducted if necessary. The final list of participants will be announced in February.

The selected guardians will begin their activities with an inauguration ceremony at the end of February and will continue until November. The main programs include: ▲ 'Yi Sun-sin Camp' for exploring historical sites in Asan (March), ▲ participation in Admiral Yi Sun-sin's birthday ceremony (April), ▲ rice planting experience at the shrine’s ancestral land (May), and ▲ supporting the 'Moonlight Night Walk' during Hyeonchungsa Shrine's nighttime opening (October). Members who complete the required training will also have the opportunity to serve as exhibition docents for visitors.

Park Geun-yong, Director of the Hyeonchungsa Shrine Management Office, stated, "I hope this will be an opportunity for youth to experience the significance of national heritage firsthand."
