On January 14, Namyangju City stated that starting from the first bus on the 15th, and continuing until the end of the Seoul city bus strike, it will operate its public management route, bus number 155, completely free of charge. This measure is the result of Mayor Joo Gwangdeok’s decisive action to prevent a commuting crisis for Namyangju citizens and to reduce transportation costs, which could arise from the Seoul bus strike.

Bus number 155 is a key route connecting major hubs in Namyangju City to downtown Seoul. Through this free operation, it is expected to serve as a “bridge” to fill the gap in public transportation services.

The city immediately entered an emergency response system as soon as the strike began. Major measures include increasing the number of village buses and deploying chartered buses, mobilizing all available transportation means to minimize traffic disruption through a multi-faceted approach.

Additionally, to prevent confusion among citizens, the city will significantly enhance guidance regarding the free operation sections and period of bus number 155. Detailed information can be checked in real time through the Namyangju City Hall website and official transportation information channels.

Mayor Joo Gwangdeok emphasized, “In this emergency situation caused by the Seoul city bus strike, the local government swiftly implemented the highest-priority action it could take. No matter the circumstances, we will prioritize guaranteeing the right to mobility for Namyangju citizens and carry out prompt and responsible transportation administration.”
