"Investigating the Cause... Not a Hacking Incident"
A disruption occurred in the post office's financial IT network but has since been restored.
According to the Korea Post on January 14, starting from approximately 3:14 p.m. that day, a failure in the post office's financial IT network caused disruptions to deposit and insurance services at financial counters, as well as to automated teller machines (ATMs), and internet and mobile financial services.
The disruption lasted for about two hours and thirty minutes, with all services returning to normal as of 5:50 p.m.
The Korea Post stated that it is currently investigating the cause of the IT system failure, and clarified that it was not due to hacking or any other form of cyberattack.
