Improving Living Environments for Citizens
through Replacement of Aging Water Pipes
Expectations for Enhanced Water Quality and Safety
Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on January 14 that it will officially launch the "2026 Support Project for Replacement of Aging Indoor Water Supply Pipes in Old Houses" this month to provide citizens with a clean and safe tap water supply environment.
This project aims to prevent rust water and deterioration in tap water quality caused by aging water supply facilities, and to improve both the residential environment and water quality satisfaction for citizens.
Last year, the city supported construction costs of approximately 400 million won for a total of 586 households with aging homes through this project, resolving issues related to rust water. This year, the city plans to allocate the same budget to support replacement costs for aging indoor pipes and common pipes in multi-family housing complexes.
The project is available to single-family and multi-family homes that are more than 20 years old. For indoor pipe replacement, 90% of the construction cost is covered for homes up to 60㎡, 80% for homes up to 85㎡, and 70% for homes up to 130㎡, with a maximum of 1.8 million won per household. The same criteria apply to the replacement of common pipes in multi-family housing, with a maximum of 600,000 won per household.
However, buildings that have received support from the same project within the past five years, those approved for the project due to reconstruction, and those scheduled for planned development such as maintenance zones are excluded from eligibility.
The city intends to contribute to improved trust in tap water and greater satisfaction with daily life by creating an environment where citizens can use tap water with peace of mind through this project.
An official from Namyangju City stated, "Access to clean water is a basic right for all citizens," and added, "We hope this support will lead to tangible improvements in residential environments."
