This overseas exploration program was organized to provide 26 Hallym University students with the opportunity to visit three major Asian cities and explore the development paths of regional values and ways to utilize them.
In Taipei, Taiwan, the students observed examples of active utilization of local natural heritage, such as Yehliu Geopark, and experienced firsthand the potential for expanding a city's cultural influence by managing and exhibiting various relics through visits to museums, including the National Palace Museum.
In Shanghai, China, the program offered field experiences where students explored key sites of modern and contemporary history, allowing them to compare and deepen their understanding of the diverse development paths and regional values of various East Asian cities, such as Incheon and Yokohama, which share similar geographical and historical contexts.
In Beijing and Chengde, China, students followed the footsteps of Joseon envoys, analyzing the cultural and social contexts experienced by historical figures who traveled to China during the Joseon Dynasty, thereby strengthening their ability to develop humanities content.
Kim Minho, Head of the Hallym University Convergence Talent Development Project Group for Humanities and Social Sciences, stated, "This L-HUSS in the World Overseas Exploration Program has become a springboard for students to discover and expand the value of regions from a more creative perspective. I hope it has provided students with the opportunity to grow as convergent talents in the humanities and social sciences who can identify and utilize the latent value of regions from a new point of view."
