Up to 40 Million Won Coverage
A Total of 43 Protection Items
Uiryeong County in South Gyeongsang Province has renewed its subscription to the '2026 Resident Safety Insurance' to support the stability of residents' lives against unexpected disasters and accidents in daily life. The insurance will be officially implemented starting January 15.
The Resident Safety Insurance is a program in which Uiryeong County covers the entire premium, allowing all residents registered in Uiryeong to automatically receive benefits without any separate enrollment process. Notably, starting this year, registered foreign residents are also included in the coverage, ensuring that all residents living in Uiryeong can enjoy safety and welfare benefits without discrimination.
The coverage period for the 2026 Resident Safety Insurance is one year, from January 15, 2026, to January 14, 2027, and there are a total of 43 coverage items. As a major change, the coverage for accidental death and disability due to 'explosion, fire, and collapse' has been further specified to include 'sinkhole' accidents, which have recently become a social issue.
Key coverage items include: ▲ Up to 40 million won for accidental death or disability from agricultural machinery accidents ▲ 30 million won for death due to natural disasters ▲ 20 million won for injury treatment costs from school zone traffic accidents. In addition, coverage has been established for various risks that may occur in daily life, such as ▲ dog bite accidents ▲ wild animal damage ▲ gas accidents.
Insurance claims can be made within three years from the date of the accident, and overlapping coverage with other personal insurance policies is possible. Since first introducing the Resident Safety Insurance in 2018, Uiryeong County has paid out approximately 550 million won in insurance benefits for a total of 77 accidents, thereby supporting the safety of its residents.
An official from the county stated, "We have updated the coverage items and eligibility to better reflect current realities," adding, "We will continue to review and improve the system to ensure the safety of our residents."
