Scaling Up to a 1,000-Seat Grand Theater
Martial Arts Director Seo Jeongju Promises High-Level Action
The original musical "Secretly Greatly: THE LAST" will celebrate its 10th anniversary by moving to a grand theater, opening on January 30 at the NOL Theater Woori Card Hall in Daehak-ro, Seoul.
The production company Juda Culture stated, "'Secretly Greatly,' which has grown through small and medium-sized theaters, will move to a grand theater with a capacity of 1,000 seats to mark its 10th anniversary." They added, "We plan to present a stage that maximizes the dynamic movements of the actors by utilizing the expanded space of the grand theater." Additionally, they said, "We have significantly enhanced the visual elements by using a rotating set to create a three-dimensional sense of space and introducing illusion effects in the opening scene."
Premiered in 2016, "Secretly Greatly: THE LAST" is based on the webtoon of the same name by author HUN. The story follows elite agents from North Korea's 5446 special operations unit who infiltrate a hillside neighborhood in South Korea under the grand mission of national reunification, disguising themselves as a village fool, an aspiring singer, and a high school student. The original webtoon was also adapted into a film in 2013, attracting nearly 7 million viewers.
For this sixth season, original creators such as director Choo Junghwa, music director Heo Suhyeon, and choreographer Kim Byeongjin return, joined by martial arts director Seo Jeongju, who is newly participating this season.
Choreographer Kim Byeongjin and martial arts director Seo Jeongju plan to deliver even more intense action in this season, which has been expanded into a grand theater version featuring 17 cast members. Eleven actors playing National Intelligence Service agents will showcase explosive energy through spectacular action that combines acrobatics, martial arts, b-boying, and group choreography.
On January 13, Juda Culture also released a martial arts performance video capturing the vivid action scenes. In the video, actors playing both leading and supporting roles as NIS agents perform high-level moves identical to those in the actual show, perfectly conveying the production's signature dynamism and impact.
Having moved to a grand theater and become even more intense, "Secretly Greatly: THE LAST" will open on January 30 and run through April 26.
