Mercedes-Benz Establishes Asia-Pacific Purchasing and Supplier Quality Management Organization in Seoul

Official Launch Event Held at Mercedes-Benz Korea Headquarters on January 14

Mercedes-Benz announced on January 14 that it has established a new "Asia-Pacific Purchasing and Supplier Quality Management" organization in Seoul, positioning it as a key hub to strengthen supply chain collaboration in major Asian markets.

The launch event, held at the Mercedes-Benz Korea headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by Joerg Burzer, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) overseeing the group’s development and purchasing divisions, Matthias Vaitl, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, and Steffen Mauersberger, Vice President of Asia-Pacific Purchasing and Supplier Quality Management.

The newly established organization in Korea will oversee purchasing and supplier quality management activities across the Asia-Pacific region, with a particular focus on Korea and Japan, while also covering major Southeast Asian markets. It will also serve as a strategic bridge, organically connecting the headquarters’ purchasing division with the Asia-Pacific region.

Burzer, CTO of Mercedes-Benz, stated, "Korea boasts a highly advanced automotive industry environment and a dynamic, innovative supply base. Through the establishment of this new organization, we aim to further strengthen our existing partnerships while proactively seeking new collaboration opportunities across advanced technologies and high-tech components."

This organization consists of three departments: business development, purchasing, and supplier quality management. It will be led by Vice President Mauersberger, who has played a key role within the Mercedes-Benz Group’s purchasing and supplier quality management organization.
