Boosting English Speaking Confidence among Elementary and Middle School Students
Over 800 Participants in the Program
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) has reported notable results from its 'Customized Video English Program' for elementary and middle school students in the Busan area, which aims to enhance their English speaking skills and confidence. The program has achieved high participation and completion rates.
According to the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, students participating in the program recorded an average attendance rate of 97% and a completion rate of over 96%, indicating a high level of enthusiasm and achievement among the students.
On January 10, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education held the '2nd Customized Video English Program Performance Report' in the auditorium, attended by around 100 students, parents, and teacher support staff, to share the results of the program's operation. The event also included awards for outstanding learners and English speaking presentations, providing an opportunity to assess the educational impact.
The 'Customized Video English Program' is an online English course tailored to each student's level, featuring a systematic three-step process: preliminary learning with a Korean teacher, practical conversation with a native-speaking teacher, and self-directed review. Since its introduction in 2024, the program has focused on boosting students' confidence in English speaking.
In the 2025 academic year, approximately 800 students from 4th grade in elementary school to 3rd grade in middle school participated in both the first and second sessions, maintaining high attendance and completion rates and receiving positive evaluations for its stable operation.
Based on feedback collected during this performance report event, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to further enhance the English speaking program and continuously expand customized support that reflects students' levels and needs.
Superintendent Kim Seokjun stated, "The Customized Video English Program is a meaningful example of fostering both English proficiency and confidence through a systematic learning process," adding, "We will continue to provide on-site support so that students can grow into global talents without fear of English."
