The original FIFA World Cup trophy will visit South Korea.
Korea Coca-Cola announced on January 14 that the original FIFA World Cup trophy will arrive in South Korea on January 16 aboard a special Coca-Cola chartered flight. The trophy visiting South Korea this time is the official trophy that will be awarded to the winning country of the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States starting in June.
Coca-Cola stated on January 14 that, as part of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, this event will offer domestic fans a unique opportunity to see the iconic trophy of the World Cup up close and share the spirit of victory ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The original FIFA World Cup trophy is visiting South Korea for the first time in four years since the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Coca-Cola, as the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup and the exclusive partner holding the rights to the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, has been meeting football fans around the world through the trophy tour since 2006.
The original FIFA World Cup trophy began its journey in Saudi Arabia on January 3 and will tour 30 FIFA member countries and 75 regions worldwide, including South Korea, over approximately 150 days. In South Korea, the trophy will arrive on January 16 via the special Coca-Cola chartered flight and will be unveiled to the public for the first time at a media event on the same day. On January 17, a consumer experience event will be held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall, where visitors can see the original FIFA World Cup trophy in person.
A Coca-Cola representative said, "Coca-Cola has long supported Korean football with genuine enthusiasm, sharing the excitement of the FIFA World Cup with domestic fans. We hope this event will be a special opportunity to share the spirit of victory embodied by the original FIFA World Cup trophy with fans in South Korea."
