President Lee Jaemyung has approved the appointment of Choi Seungpil as the new Audit and Inspection Board Commissioner (vice-ministerial level), the presidential office announced on January 13.
Commissioner Choi graduated from Gwangju Jeil High School and the Department of Law at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and earned his doctorate in law with a specialization in economic public law from the University of W?rzburg in Germany.
Since 2007, he has served as a law professor and held positions including Vice President of the Korean Public Law Association and the Korean Environmental Law Association, President of the Banking Law Association, member of the Statutory Interpretation and Review Committee at the Ministry of Government Legislation, and member of the Financial Development Deliberation Committee at the Financial Services Commission. The Audit and Inspection Board explained that he has contributed to the advancement of national administration.
The Audit and Inspection Board Commissioner is a member of the Audit Committee, which operates as a seven-member body including the Chairperson of the Audit and Inspection Board. The Audit Committee is the highest decision-making body responsible for approving audit results, requesting disciplinary action, and reviewing appeals within the Audit and Inspection Board.
Commissioner Choi’s term will run from January 13, 2026, until January 12, 2030.
