Kyungpook National University to Freeze Undergraduate Tuition Fees for 2026 Academic Year

Kyungpook National University (President Huh Youngwoo) announced on January 12 that it held a Tuition Review Committee meeting, attended by student representatives, faculty representatives, relevant experts, and alumni representatives, and decided to freeze undergraduate tuition fees for the 2026 academic year.

This decision was made to minimize the burden on students and parents and to fulfill its social responsibility as a flagship national university, despite a deteriorating financial situation caused by a prolonged tuition freeze, rising prices, increases in public utility charges, and higher labor and facility maintenance costs.

Since 2009, Kyungpook National University has maintained a policy of freezing or reducing undergraduate tuition fees, and has effectively eased the tuition burden through measures such as a 5.0% reduction once, a 0.5% reduction twice, and a 0.28% reduction once.

With this tuition freeze, the university plans to secure educational and research resources by restructuring its budget, reducing unnecessary expenses, expanding its own revenue sources, and actively expanding and linking government financial support projects.

President Huh Youngwoo stated, "It is true that the university's financial environment is challenging. We will do our utmost to manage finances so that there are no disruptions to educational and research operations. At the same time, we will strive for responsible university management to harmoniously achieve both goals of easing the burden on students and ensuring the university's sustainable development."
