Chaerina Makes Headlines with 800% Return on Stock Investments

Chaerina (47), formerly of the group Roo'ra, has drawn attention after revealing that she achieved an 800% return on her investment in NVIDIA.

On January 12, in a video released through the official YouTube channel of the SBS variety show "Gol Ddaerineun Geunyeodeul," Chaerina shared her New Year's wish, saying, "I hope the stocks I own will rise significantly."

When the production team commented, "They've already gone up a lot," Chaerina replied, "They have indeed risen a lot," and added, "I've owned NVIDIA for seven years. The return is 800%," surprising everyone. The production team even added a playful caption, saying, "We were so envious while editing that we cried."

When Chaerina started investing in NVIDIA about seven years ago, around 2019, the stock price was approximately $33. NVIDIA's share price rose by about 200% in 2023 and another 100% in 2024. Last year alone, it surged 31%, making NVIDIA the company with the highest market capitalization globally as of the article's publication date.

With the recent bull market in stocks, the investment returns of celebrities have also become a hot topic. Veteran actress Jeon Wonju (86), known as a "master of personal finance," reportedly bought SK Hynix shares at around 20,000 KRW before the company was acquired by the SK Group in 2011 and achieved high returns through long-term investment. She previously revealed that she started investing with 5 million KRW and achieved a return of 600%.

Jang Yewon, a broadcaster and former announcer, also recently revealed that her return on SK Hynix shares reached 323.53%, drawing attention. However, she explained, "I only picked one share as a mission during an economic channel broadcast with my younger sibling," and added, "If I had known that stock would become such a winner, I wouldn't have bought just one share," expressing some regret. In addition, broadcaster Kim Gura previously revealed in October last year that he earned a return of about 100% from his investment in Samsung Electronics shares.
