Expanding the Scope of International Museum Activities
Chosun University Art Museum is set to strengthen its identity as an education-centered public art museum and take a leap forward as a cultural and artistic platform encompassing both international exchange and glocal (global + local) collaboration.
On January 13, Chosun University announced that Professor Kim Iltae was appointed as Director of the Art Museum as of January 1, and that the university is now concretizing the overall direction of museum operations and actively pursuing a phased advancement of its management.
As a public art museum based on university education, Chosun University Art Museum contributes to the development of regional arts and culture and the advancement of the university, while fulfilling the role of a public museum through domestic and international cultural and artistic exchanges and exhibitions. Additionally, the museum is working to expand its brand through a variety of art genres, convergence exhibitions, and international exchange.
The museum plans to broaden its international activities by maintaining ongoing collaboration with the College of Fine Arts, international art museums, and related organizations, through joint exhibitions, academic events, archiving of academic materials, residencies, and joint projects.
In addition, the museum will design and operate programs that align with the policies of the College of Fine Arts and the unique characteristics of each department, while also promoting exhibitions and educational programs that reflect current industrial and cultural trends such as digital and AI-driven creativity.
The museum also aims to advance the operation of the Geumgye-ri Art Center to expand a cross-genre creative environment, manage and discover new works in its storage facilities, and broaden its scope through the development of well-aging content linked to the Glocal University Project and through cooperation with national and local government agencies.
Director Kim Iltae stated, "As a public art museum, Chosun University Art Museum will faithfully fulfill its role in education, research, and connecting the local and international communities," adding, "Through international exchange and glocal collaboration, we will establish ourselves as a cultural and artistic platform where the university and the local community can grow together."
