The Gwangmyeong City government announced on January 13 that the Haenaem, Nareum, and Didim Youth Activity Centers, operated by the Gwangmyeong Youth Foundation, were selected as 'Best Facilities' in the '2025 Comprehensive Evaluation of Youth Training Facilities' organized by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
This evaluation is a statutory assessment conducted every two years in accordance with the Youth Activity Promotion Act.
This year’s assessment covered a two-year period from 2023 to 2024 and comprehensively evaluated seven areas: facility operation and management for youth activities, youth utilization and programs, personnel and organizational management, facility and safety management, and facility operation development. The facility evaluation included architecture, civil engineering, machinery, electricity, fire safety, gas, and sanitation management.
In this evaluation, the city’s facilities ranked in the top 10% out of 548 facilities nationwide and were designated as 'Best Facilities.'
The city explained that the three Youth Activity Centers received high marks not only for the quality of their programs and overall operational excellence, but also for creating safe spaces where youth can feel secure, thanks to systematic safety management such as regular facility inspections, staff safety training, and the establishment of crisis response systems.
In particular, the evaluation gave high scores for actively reflecting the voices of youth in all aspects of program and facility operations. Each center operates a youth participation body to incorporate youth opinions from the program planning stage, and has continued to expand demand-oriented activities in various fields such as culture, arts, character education, and science, thereby practicing youth-centered management.
The city added that, in addition to these three centers, both the Gwangmyeong Youth Training Center and the Pureum Youth Activity Center also received excellent ratings in this evaluation.
Seungwon Park, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, stated, "This achievement is the result of the efforts of our staff in the field and the active participation of youth. We will continue to strengthen the nation’s best activity infrastructure so that young people can fully realize their potential and grow in a safe environment."
