Namyangju City Holds Emergency Meeting on Seoul Bus Strike and Snowfall Response
All-Out Efforts to Minimize Citizen Inconvenience in Transportation and Snow Removal
On January 13 at 7 a.m., Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province held an emergency meeting presided over by the mayor to review emergency transportation measures in response to the Seoul city bus strike and to check the progress of road snow removal efforts.
Joo Kwangdeok, Mayor of Namyangju City, held an emergency meeting at 7 a.m. on the 13th to review emergency transportation measures due to the Seoul city bus strike and the progress of road snow removal. Provided by Namyangju City.
This emergency meeting was convened to proactively respond to the cancellation of city bus services caused by the Seoul bus strike and to minimize inconvenience to citizens due to snowfall.
According to Namyangju City, the Seoul bus strike resulted in the complete suspension of three Seoul bus routes passing through Namyangju, which was expected to cause inconvenience for residents. In response, the city urgently deployed one backup vehicle each on two village bus routes operating between Byeollae-dong and Taereungipgu Station. In addition, to substitute for Route 202, which is heavily used by residents of Byeollae-dong, two free shuttle charter buses are being operated at 30-minute intervals.
Furthermore, due to the snowfall that began on January 12, the city operated snow removal teams at the city hall and in 16 towns and districts to prevent traffic disruptions during the morning commute. Proactive snow removal was carried out not only on main roads but also on side streets. In particular, snow removal was strengthened in boundary areas adjacent to neighboring cities such as Seoul and Guri to ensure there were no blind spots in citizen safety.
Mayor Joo Kwangdeok stated, "We are making every effort to respond to transportation and snow removal issues with the highest priority on citizen safety," and instructed relevant departments to "promptly address civil complaints and always reconfirm whether they have been resolved."
