Recruitment for Lifelong Learning Instructor and Activist Courses for Persons with Disabilities Also Underway
Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province is accepting applications until January 23 for a school activity support program for students with disabilities attending elementary, middle, and high schools within the city.
This program, which has been implemented since 2022, provides support payments to guarantee equal educational rights for students with disabilities who face difficulties in educational activities due to the nature of their disabilities or caregiving circumstances.
The program will select a total of 70 recipients who are beneficiaries of disability activity support and are currently enrolled in elementary, middle, or high schools in the city. However, incoming elementary students, students attending special schools, and students in itinerant classes are excluded from eligibility.
Recipients will be selected based on the highest scores, taking into account behavior assessments and the placement of care staff. Selected students will receive a school activity support payment of 17,270 KRW per hour from March, when the semester begins, through December. The support hours are set at 60 hours per month for elementary students and 120 hours per month for middle and high school students.
Applicants must visit their local community service center with identification to apply. For more details, refer to the notice board on the Siheung City Hall website or contact the Siheung City Welfare Division for Persons with Disabilities.
In addition, the city is accepting applications until January 23 for the 'Training Course for Professional Instructors and Activists in Lifelong Learning for Persons with Disabilities.' This course aims to enhance the professionalism of lifelong learning for people with disabilities and to discover human resources who can provide customized learning services tailored to the type of disability and learning characteristics.
This year, the course will be operated in collaboration with the Korea Institute for Lifelong Education for the Disabled, a specialized educational institution, as a qualification course for the 'Level 2 Lifelong Education Instructor for Persons with Disabilities' certificate.
The recruitment quota is 40 professional instructors and 10 activists in lifelong learning for persons with disabilities. Professional instructors must be registered in the Siheung City Instructor Bank by the application deadline to apply. Anyone interested in lifelong learning for persons with disabilities who resides in Siheung City may apply as an activist.
The training consists of 10 courses, ranging from theory to practical fieldwork, aimed at fostering sensitivity to disability rights. There is no tuition fee.
The courses will be held on weekday evenings from February 2 to 27 at the Sangsang Hall of Siheung ABC Happy Learning Town. The city plans to offer opportunities such as assistant instructor dispatch and practical training linkage to those who complete the course and obtain certification as instructors or activists.
Applicants can apply through the online platform 'Siheung Education Campus SSOC.' For more information, refer to the notice board on the Siheung City Hall website or contact the Siheung City Lifelong Learning Division.
