Uijeongbu City Continues Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Fee Support Program

Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Donggeun) announced that it will continue its "Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Fee Support Program" this year to prevent tenants from suffering losses due to unpaid jeonse deposits.

This program provides tenants who have enrolled in the Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee with full or partial reimbursement (up to 400,000 won) of the guarantee fee they have already paid. The initiative serves as a safety measure to reduce the risk of tenants not being able to recover their deposit at the end of their lease contract.

Eligible applicants are Uijeongbu residents who meet all of the following criteria: they are tenants without home ownership who have enrolled in the Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee; their jeonse deposit is 300 million won or less; and their income meets the following thresholds-annual household income of 50 million won or less for youth households, 60 million won or less for non-youth households, and 75 million won or less for newlywed households.

However, tenants living in registered rental housing under the Special Act on Private Rental Housing, tenants who are corporations, and those reapplying for support with the same guarantee certificate number for which they have already received support, are excluded from eligibility.

Applicants can apply through the Safe Jeonse Portal or Government24, or by visiting their local administrative welfare center or Uijeongbu City Hall in person.

An official from Uijeongbu City stated, "The Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee is one of the most effective means of preventing jeonse fraud. Through this support program, we hope citizens can reduce the financial burden of enrolling in the guarantee and enjoy a safer residential environment."
