Honam University Hotel and Convention Department, Accepted to Top Hotels in Seoul and the Metropolitan Area

Honam University announced on January 13 that both graduates and soon-to-be graduates of its Department of Hotel and Convention have been accepted in large numbers to top-tier five-star hotels in Seoul and the metropolitan area during the year-end and New Year hiring season.

The department is drawing attention for its outstanding employment competitiveness, including producing successful candidates in the highly coveted open recruitment of Samsung Group, often referred to as the pinnacle of the service industry.

Graduate Cha Sayoung, after gaining practical experience as a service crew member at Hotel Shilla Seoul-widely regarded as Korea’s premier hotel-earned the honor of passing the rigorous selection process and was ultimately accepted in the Samsung Service open recruitment. This achievement is seen as the result of the synergy between her service skills, recognized in the field, and the department’s systematic career management.

Three soon-to-be graduates also demonstrated their abilities by securing positions at landmark hotels in the Seoul and Incheon areas.

Jung Jinwoo was hired at 'Constance,' the premium buffet at Josun Palace Gangnam, the flagship brand of Shinsegae Group. Kang Jiseong was accepted into the Food & Beverage department at 'Art Paradiso,' the luxury boutique hotel of Paradise Sega Sammy, an artainment resort complex in Incheon. Kwon Yumin took her first step as a hotelier at 'Mercato 521' in Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas, a landmark in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

They have developed strong on-site adaptability through the department’s RISE project-linked curriculum, practical, customized employment support programs, and the meticulous individual consulting provided by Professor Lee Seunghwan, the department’s employment advisor.

Graduate Cha Sayoung commented, “My experience at Hotel Shilla and the professional service mindset I learned in the department were the foundation for my success in the open recruitment.”
