Sokcho City Implements Group Tourism Incentive Program... Group Tour Rewards Up to 600,000 Won

Sokcho City in Gangwon Province is implementing a group tourism incentive program to boost tourism.

The program targets schools, travel agencies, and group tourists who stay at least one night in Sokcho for school trips, use paid tourist attractions, and dine at local restaurants. Eligible travel agencies are those that bring group tourists who stay at least one night at accommodations in Sokcho, visit paid tourist sites, and use local restaurants.

The support criteria for school trips are as follows: if 20 or more students from a school stay for one night, the school will receive 5,000 won per person; for two or more nights, the amount increases to 7,000 won per person.

For travel agencies, the incentive is 200,000 won per night for groups of 20 to 40 people, 400,000 won per night for groups of 41 to 80 people, and 600,000 won per night for groups of 81 or more.

Visits for specific events, such as attending sports events hosted or sponsored by Sokcho City, political or religious gatherings, travel agency staff such as tour guides and bus drivers, and cases that do not qualify as group tourism, are excluded from support.

The program is operated in the first and second halves of the year, excluding the peak season (June to August), and payments will not be made once the allocated budget is exhausted.

Applications must be submitted to the Tourism Division's Seorak-dong Revitalization Team at Sokcho City Hall (in person or by mail) within 10 days after the end of the trip, along with the required documents and supporting materials.
