76 Projects Selected Last Year, 17 Billion Won Secured
Jungnang District in Seoul (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) has established and is set to implement the "2026 Public Contest Project Management Promotion Plan" to strategically respond to various public contest projects led by the central government, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and private sector social contribution initiatives, thereby actively securing external funding.
Last year, the district participated in external public contest projects organized by central government ministries and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, with a total of 76 projects selected. Through these efforts, the district secured 17.034 billion won in external funding. Compared to the 2024 results (49 projects, 6.714 billion won), this represents an increase of 27 selected projects and 10.32 billion won in secured funds, reflecting the district's systematic strengthening of its public contest response system.
The secured funds were utilized not only for expanding living infrastructure-such as the construction of a multipurpose sports center (10.2 billion won), improvement of public buildings (270 million won), and support for care services (85 million won)-but also for projects aimed at revitalizing the local economy, including fostering local commercial districts (800 million won), improving the manufacturing environment (440 million won), and creating youth jobs (100 million won).
This year, the district has established a systematic operational foundation for public contest projects based on the "Seoul Jungnang District Public Contest Project Management Ordinance." To enhance each department's ability to respond to public contests, the district plans to pursue various strategies in parallel, such as discovering new projects, expanding advance preparations, and providing incentives according to public contest project performance.
Ryu Gyeonggi, Mayor of Jungnang District, stated, "Public contest projects are an important means that provide tangible benefits to the district's finances," adding, "In 2026, we will continue to actively promote projects closely related to residents' lives by securing external funding."
