Gimpo City Launches Full-Scale Operation of
“Healthy Walking Practice Service” Linked to Gimpo Pay
Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Byungsoo) will officially launch the “Gimpo Pay-Linked Healthy Walking Practice Service” in 2026 to promote citizens’ health and revitalize the local economy.
Until now, Gimpo City has operated walking challenges using external platforms such as WalkOn. However, to improve accessibility for citizens and operate the budget more efficiently, the city has completed an upgrade to integrate the walking function directly into the Gimpo Pay app.
Through this transition to an in-house platform, the city expects to save more than 10 million won annually in operating costs, such as agency fees previously paid for external platforms. The savings will be reinvested as rewards for citizens, improving the program structure so that more people can benefit.
In addition, citizens will no longer need to install a separate app, as they can now check their walking records and apply for rewards all within the existing Gimpo Pay app, greatly enhancing user convenience.
Any Gimpo citizen can participate through the healthy walking menu in the Gimpo Pay app. The service is designed to help participants naturally incorporate walking into their daily lives and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
In particular, during the service period from January 12 to February 20, some participants who achieve 300,000 steps will receive a designated incentive according to the program’s operating standards.
An official from the Gimpo City Public Health Center said, “We hope the Gimpo Pay walking service will help citizens make walking a natural part of their daily lives and serve as an opportunity to restore vitality. We ask for your interest and active participation.”
