Gyeonggi Province to Provide Up to 20 Million Won in Repair Costs for Jeonse Fraud Victims

Gyeonggi Province will continue its "Emergency Management Support Program for Jeonse Fraud Victim Housing" this year, which provides up to 20 million won in repair costs for tenants of homes affected by jeonse fraud who urgently need repairs but are unable to contact the landlord.

This program, the first of its kind in the country, was introduced by Gyeonggi Province to ensure the safety of properties where basic management-such as fire safety, elevator maintenance, leak repairs, and heating-cannot be carried out due to the landlord's absence. The goal is to maintain the safety and living conditions of homes currently occupied by victims of jeonse fraud.

Eligible recipients include victims of jeonse fraud residing in homes where the landlord is missing or unreachable, making urgent safety measures or damage recovery necessary. The support limit is up to 20 million won for common areas and up to 5 million won for exclusive areas (individual living spaces).

The Gyeonggi Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Center, which is responsible for implementing the program, will focus on on-site support and begin accepting applications in January.

Last year, Gyeonggi Province supported a total of 79 cases through the emergency management support program for jeonse fraud victim homes with absent landlords. Most of the assistance was provided for essential maintenance closely related to daily life, such as waterproofing, leak repairs, heating, plumbing, and window construction. According to a satisfaction survey, all respondents rated the program as satisfactory or higher, confirming both its effectiveness and the positive impact felt on the ground.

Kim Taesu, Director of Housing Policy at Gyeonggi Province, said, "In 2026, we will continue to support the safety management and maintenance of victimized homes so that affected tenants can live in a more stable residential environment."
