Han Byungdo Elected as Floor Leader
New Leadership Appointments in the Democratic Party’s National Assembly Team
With the election of Han Byungdo as the new floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, the newly formed party leadership in the National Assembly has appointed Kim Hankyu (serving his second term) as Chief Policy Officer and Jeon Yonggi (also serving his second term) as Chief Communications Officer.
On January 12 at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Kim Hyunjung, the party's floor spokesperson, announced, "We have appointed Assemblyman Kim Hankyu as Chief Policy Officer." Assemblyman Kim, who is serving his second term representing Jeju City, is currently a member of the National Assembly's Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee and the Special Committee on Political Reform.
Assemblyman Kim has previously served as Secretary for Political Affairs at the Presidential Secretariat, floor spokesperson for the Democratic Party, and secretary of the National Assembly's Gender Equality and Family Committee. Regarding Assemblyman Kim, spokesperson Kim stated, "He has a deep understanding of the economy and industry, making him the right person to implement President Lee Jaemyung's economic and industrial policies in the National Assembly."
Assemblyman Jeon has been appointed as Chief Communications Officer. Assemblyman Jeon, who is serving his second term representing Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province, is currently a member of the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee and the Steering Committee. He is a young politician who has previously served as Chairman of the National University Students Committee and Chairman of the National Youth Committee.
He is currently serving as Chairman of the Democratic Party's National Communication Committee and previously worked as a special advisor for digital strategy during President Lee Jaemyung's tenure as party leader. Spokesperson Kim commented, "He is the right person to serve as a bridge for smooth communication within the party and between the party and the presidential office."
Meanwhile, on the morning of the same day, Assemblyman Chun Junho (serving his second term) was appointed as Chief Operations Officer in the National Assembly.
