Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority to Publicly Recruit New President

Appointment of a Chief Executive Officer
to Lead the Future Competitiveness of Yeosu and Gwangyang Ports

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (YGPA, Acting President Hwang Hakbeom) announced on January 12 that it will publicly recruit a new president to develop Yeosu Gwangyang Port into a global hub for the shipping industry with international competitiveness, and to lead the advancement of the national economy and the local community.


This recruitment aims to appoint a candidate with expertise, management capabilities, and integrity in the port and logistics sectors as well as related fields. YGPA plans to select its chief executive officer through a fair and transparent, competency-based process.

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority to Publicly Recruit New President

The president of YGPA, as the chief executive officer, will be responsible for presenting mid- to long-term visions and overseeing the overall operation and management of the organization. The term of office is three years, with the possibility of annual reappointment based on management performance.


Applicants must have comprehensive expertise in the authority's operations, leadership as a chief executive, organizational management and business acumen, relevant knowledge and experience in the field, as well as integrity, morality, and a sound ethical sense. In addition, applicants must not be disqualified under relevant laws and regulations.


Applications will be accepted from 4:00 p.m. on January 12, 2026, until 6:00 p.m. on January 26, 2026, either in person or by registered mail. After document screening and interviews, the final candidate will be selected.


Meanwhile, YGPA stated that through this public recruitment, it aims to appoint a leader who can present sustainable growth strategies for Yeosu and Gwangyang Ports amid the rapidly changing maritime and logistics environment, and realize public institution management that coexists with the local community.
