Supports Five Languages Including English and Chinese
Expanding Globally Collaborative Content
On January 12, SOOP announced that it will introduce "One SOOP," a unified platform that integrates its domestic and international services, allowing users and streamers worldwide to access the same environment.
During its 2024 rebranding process, SOOP launched a global version of SOOP targeting overseas users. Subsequently, it also changed the name of its AfreecaTV platform, previously operated in Korea, to SOOP and managed it separately.
SOOP explained that this integration is a strategy to connect major regional communities in Korea, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and the Americas within a single platform and to enhance global operational synergy.
The integrated platform strengthens real-time global communication features and supports a total of five languages: Korean, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Thai. By applying artificial intelligence (AI)-based automatic translation and subtitle functions, it aims to lower language barriers. These features are available across major devices, including PC, mobile, smart TV, and tablet.
In terms of content, SOOP will expand globally collaborative content. This includes joint broadcasts featuring both domestic and international streamers, as well as globally participatory content. The company will also enhance multilingual coverage of major League of Legends (LoL) leagues and various esports tournaments such as Valorant, PUBG, and Tekken. Global sports content, including overseas broadcasts of Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) games and World Cups organized by the Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB), will also be gradually increased.
Additionally, SOOP plans to systematically support overseas streamers from onboarding to active participation, and to expand the planning and production of joint content by collaborating with regional partners to facilitate overseas activities for domestic streamers.
Choi Youngwoo, CEO of SOOP, stated, "This platform integration is a process of creating a new ecosystem where people are connected through content beyond regions and languages. We will continue to expand global synergy so that users and streamers from around the world can interact naturally and grow together within 'One SOOP.'"
