On January 12, In posted a video titled "I sincerely congratulate Assemblywoman Lee Sohee on entering the National Assembly" on his YouTube channel. In the video, he shared a congratulatory message for Lee Sohee and offered his assessment of former President Yoon Suk Yeol's 12·3 state of emergency incident.

In stated, "When martial law was declared a year ago, I thought it meant that an emergency situation had arisen in the country, one that the President could not fully explain to the people. I believed there must have been urgent and compelling reasons for the commander-in-chief to declare martial law."

However, he said he was very disappointed as things turned out to be quite different from what he had thought. In added, "During the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement in 1980, I was branded a protest leader and suffered three years of police surveillance for interpreting for foreign journalists. I know all too well how terrible and irreversible a wrongful imposition of martial law can be."

He continued, "I am a failed lawmaker. However, both during my time as a member of the National Assembly and now, I continue to love the Republic of Korea. I hope that Assemblywoman Lee Sohee, who is much wiser and more capable than I am, becomes a successful lawmaker, and I believe she will."

Previously, on December 10, marking one year since the 12·3 state of emergency, In declared his resignation from the National Assembly, stating, "The unfortunate events that have continued for a year since the Yoon Suk Yeol administration's declaration of martial law are challenges that must be overcome for the future of the Republic of Korea." As a result, attorney Lee Sohee, next in line, succeeded to the National Assembly seat and began her term on this day.
