Dong-A University Hosts Glocal University Alliance IR Forum... Strengthening Performance Management and Collaboration Foundation

Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on January 12 that it held the "Glocal University Alliance IR Forum" with the aim of advancing the performance management system and establishing a foundation for IR collaboration to successfully promote the Glocal University project.

The forum, held on January 8 at Cheongchon Hall in the main administration building of Dong-A University's Seunghak Campus, was organized by the Dong-A-Dongseo Glocal University Alliance IR Center. The event was arranged to review the performance management system linked to the Glocal University project and to share the IR Center’s analysis results and future operational directions.

Approximately 120 participants attended the forum, including Lee Haewoo, President of Dong-A University and President of the Glocal Alliance University; Hwang Kisik, Head of the Glocal Project Promotion Group (Director of Planning at Dong-A University); Kim Youngbu, President of the Busan Institute of Science and Technology Promotion (BISTEP); Kim Taeyeol, President of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA); Professor Jeong Jongcheol of Kyungpook National University and former Vice Minister of Education; as well as executives from Dong-A University and Dongseo University and staff involved in the Glocal project, demonstrating high interest in the event.

The event featured lectures by external experts, case analyses, and panel discussions. Through these sessions, participants discussed ways to strengthen the expertise of IR functions and directions for building a data-driven performance management system through collaboration between universities and departments.

In his welcoming address, President Lee Haewoo stated, "The Glocal University project is a national initiative to help regionally based universities grow into innovative entities with global competitiveness," adding, "It is significant in building a new higher education ecosystem where regions and universities advance together." He continued, "Dong-A University and Dongseo University are solidifying the foundation for performance management and jointly exploring the future direction of universities through this alliance and collaborative structure. IR serves as a core intellectual foundation that systematically analyzes university changes and innovation through data, linking policy and implementation."

The keynote lecture was delivered by Professor Jeong Jongcheol of Kyungpook National University, an expert in higher education policy, under the theme "Beyond Defense to Transformation: The Challenge of Glocal Advancement through Strategic IR." Drawing on his experience in educational policy-making and university administration, Professor Jeong provided insights into the strategic role of IR and the importance of performance management in the promotion of the Glocal University project.

The subsequent panel discussion, moderated by Cho Yongbok, Director of the Dong-A-Dongseo Alliance IR Center, featured Yoon Jieon, Head of Evaluation and Analysis at BISTEP; Cheon Pyeonguk, Head of Policy Planning at BIPA; Hwang Inju, Professor at Silla University; and Oh Jiyoung, Professor at Dong-A University. The panel examined strategies for advancing data-driven IR at the university level, innovation through research, and the performance management system.

The Dong-A-Dongseo Alliance IR Center is an organization responsible for supporting data-driven performance management and policy development for the Glocal Alliance University, overseeing IR (Institutional Research) activities to aid university operations and decision-making. Centered on the IR Center, the Dong-A-Dongseo Alliance University plans to gradually establish a data hub and IR performance management system through needs assessments and continuous monitoring, thereby strengthening the quality management system for university governance.
