Osan City Secures 25.8 Billion Won in Provincial Grants Over Three Years of 8th Administration

Maintenance of Public Facilities, Improvement of Living Environments, and Upgrades to Transportation and Safety Infrastructure
Increased Investment in Sports and Leisure Facilities Ahead of the Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Games

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on January 12 that it has secured a total of 5.8 billion won in special adjustment grants from Gyeonggi Province over the three years of the 8th popularly elected administration.

By year, the city secured 5 billion won for nine projects in 2023, followed by 6.61 billion won for twelve projects in 2024. The city explained that these funds have been used for the improvement of public facilities, maintenance of living environments, and the installation of traffic safety rooms.


Last year, grants totaling 14.167 billion won were allocated to eighteen projects, which is more than double the amount from the previous year.


The city utilized the grants for projects such as the creation of a healing space for citizens at Seorang Reservoir (1 billion won), improvement of streetlight brightness in the northern region (640 million won), and the installation of canopies on school routes (70 million won).


Grants were also allocated to improvement projects for facilities frequently used by citizens, including waterproofing work to address underground leaks at the Segyo Welfare Town swimming pool (100 million won), facility upgrades at the Youth Culture Center (500 million won), environmental improvements at the assistive device repair center for people with disabilities (200 million won), and performance upgrades for aging CCTV systems at the Kumdure Library (90 million won).


In the safety and transportation infrastructure sector, the grants covered the installation of LED floor traffic signals (400 million won) and red remaining time indicators on pedestrian signals (400 million won), as well as the construction of a temporary bypass road on Seobu-ro in Gajang-dong, which will receive 200 million won.


In particular, the city allocated 7.169 billion won of the secured grants for the renovation of stadiums in preparation for the Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Games, and 450 million won for the construction of the Sema Baseball Stadium.


Additionally, the city is promoting the creation of a water playground in Yangsan-dong (500 million won), the development of a barefoot path (280 million won), and the installation of solar power facilities in public parking lots (2.09 billion won).


The city plans to execute the grants secured last year without delay, aiming to enhance the convenience of daily life for citizens and improve the environment of public facilities.


A city official stated, "We will continue to work closely with Gyeonggi Province to secure the necessary funding and ensure these efforts lead to tangible changes that citizens can feel."
