The Daegu School Support Center, under the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, announced on January 12 that it will support the appointment process for school security officers for the 2026 academic year to create a safe school environment and reduce the workload of faculty members at the start of the new semester. The application process will be fully transitioned to an online system starting this year.
The center will recruit 100 school security officers for 50 schools in the 2026 academic year. The scope of support, which previously focused on public schools, has been expanded to include both national and private schools, allowing more schools to receive administrative support.
Since the 2025 academic year, the center has provided comprehensive support for the entire process related to the appointment of school security officers, including recruitment announcements, application submissions, and document screening. Beginning this year, the center has further enhanced convenience for both applicants and schools by switching from a paper-based application process to an online system.
With the newly introduced online system, applicants can complete all steps at once on the center's website, including identity verification, selecting the desired school for appointment, entering qualifications and career details, uploading supporting documents, and writing their motivation for applying, greatly streamlining the application process.
Online applications are available from January 12 and can be submitted through the 'Support for School Security Officer Appointment' section on the center's website.
Detailed information such as participating schools, appointment schedules, and main volunteer duties can be found in the announcement posted on the websites of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education and the Daegu School Support Center. An official from the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education stated, "Once appointed as a school security officer, individuals will report to school daily and assist with guiding visitors and supporting students during arrival and dismissal for three hours each day. Compensation will be provided as a volunteer activity allowance of 14,000 won per day."
Park Jeonghee, Director of the Daegu School Support Center, said, "We expect that the introduction of the online system will improve accessibility for applicants and significantly reduce the administrative burden on schools. We will continue to support schools so they can focus on educational activities and students can grow up in a safe environment."
