A "military-police joint investigation task force (TF)" has been formed to uncover the facts regarding North Korea's claim of a South Korean drone incursion.
The National Office of Investigation of the Korean National Police Agency announced on the 12th through a press release, "In response to this drone incident, we have formed a task force consisting of approximately 20 police officers led by the Director of the Security Investigation Bureau, and about 10 military personnel, totaling around 30 members, and have launched an investigation."
The spokesperson for the General Staff Department of the Korean People's Army claimed in a statement the previous day that they had shot down drones infiltrated by South Korea in September of last year and on the 4th of this month. The Ministry of National Defense responded by stating that the South Korean military does not possess such drones and that they would thoroughly investigate the possibility that these were civilian drones.
President Lee Jaemyung stated, "If the infiltration of civilian drones is true, it constitutes a serious crime that threatens peace on the Korean Peninsula and national security," and ordered the military-police joint investigation team to conduct a swift and rigorous investigation.
