Instagram Entries Accepted from January 12
Extra Points for "Remind Shots" Wearing Hanbok Again
An event will be held where participants who take out Hanbok that has been sleeping in their closets and wear it will receive gifts.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation announced on January 12 that they will hold the “Hanbok Photo & Story Contest” until January 27. The aim is to share memories related to Hanbok and to promote the culture of wearing Hanbok in daily life.
Participation is simple. Individuals can upload a photo of themselves in Hanbok and a brief story of around 100 characters on their personal Instagram account. However, to complete the entry, participants must include the required hashtag (#새해를입다), follow the official accounts of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism or the Hanbok Promotion Center, and leave a comment.
There is also a tip to increase your chances of winning. If you submit a “remind photo,” which is a new photo taken by wearing Hanbok from an old photograph again, you will receive extra points during the judging process.
Winners will receive prizes such as an Apple Watch (Grand Prize), Galaxy Buds Pro 3 (Second Prize), and department store gift certificates (Third Prize). The selected photos will be exhibited during the Lunar New Year campaign next month. The Korea Craft & Design Foundation stated, “We hope this will be an opportunity for people to rediscover their family history that has been tucked away in their closets.”
