Visited Welfare Village Nursing Home for Performances and Donated 1 Million Won
Supporting Scholarships with Proceeds from Knitted Goods, Setting an Example in the Community
The 'Tta·Tta·Tta' movement, which conveys warmth from warm-hearted people to others with kindness, is spreading a heartwarming atmosphere throughout Seongju County.
The Parrot Volunteer Group (President Moon Okhee), a leading volunteer organization in Yongam-myeon, Seongju County, visited a welfare village nursing home located in Seonnam-myeon on January 10 and spent time sharing with the elderly residents.
For this volunteer event, the group prepared snacks for the nursing home residents and, despite their busy schedules, performed dances, songs, and a Nanta percussion show they had practiced in advance, turning the usually quiet nursing home into a lively celebration.
In addition, they donated 1 million won to help make the nursing home a more comfortable home for its residents.
The Parrot Volunteer Group was established in 2022 to carry on the spirit of sharing and service of Madam Yeom Nongsan Parrot, a patriot and social activist. Currently, about 30 members are active, and they create a variety of knitted products-such as melon keychains, bouncy melon scrubbers, and melon hats-exclusively in the Tta·Tta·Tta rhythm. The proceeds from selling these items are used to spread warmth to others.
The first warmth of the new year began with the delivery of scholarships at the graduation ceremonies of Daedong Elementary School and Yongam Middle School in Yongam-myeon.
President Moon Okhee said, "Volunteering is certainly about helping others, but in the end, it is about laughing together and making memories together, so I am actually even more grateful."
Lee Sookhee, head of Yongam-myeon, stated, "President Moon Okhee and the members of the Parrot Volunteer Group, who are leading the group with the Tta·Tta·Tta rhythm, are a precious asset to Yongam-myeon. Not only do they farm as their main occupation, but they also actively participate in various social organizations and Nanta and Zumba dance clubs. I would like to express my gratitude and say that the Yongam-myeon Administrative Welfare Center will also actively participate in local volunteer activities."
