The Pocheon City Veterans' Honor Allowance is a welfare program provided in accordance with the "Ordinance on Honoring and Supporting National Veterans and Others in Pocheon City." It is offered to national veterans, Korean War veterans, their bereaved families, and others who have dedicated themselves to the country and are registered residents of Pocheon City.
For 2026, veterans-related allowances have been increased by an average of 25% compared to the previous year. The monthly allowance for veterans and honor recipients will rise from 250,000 won to 300,000 won, the independence merit recipient allowance from 300,000 won to 350,000 won, and the spouse allowance for Korean War veterans from 130,000 won to 150,000 won.
In particular, this year, the "Korean War Veteran Hero Allowance" has been newly introduced. This allowance is part of Pocheon City's veterans' welfare program, designed to help stabilize the lives of elderly Korean War veterans and to honor their noble sacrifice for the nation. Eligible living Korean War veterans registered as residents of Pocheon City as of the application date will receive a one-time payment of 600,000 won in January each year.
The application period for the 2026 "Pocheon City Korean War Veteran Hero Allowance" is until January 20. Eligible individuals can apply by visiting their local administrative welfare center with their application form, proof of merit, supporting documents, and a copy of their bank account.
Other veterans-related allowances in Pocheon City, including the veterans' honor allowance, Korean War veterans' honor allowance, independence merit recipient allowance, spouse allowance for Korean War veterans, and bereavement consolation payments, can also be applied for through the same procedure at the administrative welfare center of one's registered address. However, these allowances are generally not paid concurrently, except that the Korean War veterans' honor allowance and the Korean War Veteran Hero Allowance can be received together.
Pocheon City plans to continue expanding its veterans' policies to foster a society that respects national veterans and their families and to ensure that they receive practical recognition and support.
