Daegu Dalseo District (District Mayor Lee Taehun) held the '2026 Winter Youth Administrative Experience Orientation' at the district office on January 8, officially launching the Youth Administrative Experience Program for the year.
The Dalseo District Youth Administrative Experience Program has been a flagship youth policy since 2017, supporting young people in gaining first-hand experience in administrative settings. The program aims to help participants deepen their understanding of public sector roles and enhance their adaptability to society.
This year, the program has been expanded from its previous focus on university students to include all unemployed youth, regardless of educational background, by revising the system to ensure fair participation for everyone.
A total of 906 applicants competed for a spot in this administrative experience program, resulting in a high competition rate of 22.7 to 1, with 40 individuals ultimately selected.
The selected participants will be assigned to 20 departments within the district office and 28 project sites throughout the district from January 8 to February 6. Over the course of about a month, they will gain hands-on experience in various practical tasks, including supporting administrative work, responding to civil complaints, and assisting with on-site operations.
The orientation session included self-introductions and sharing of impressions among participants to facilitate communication, followed by an overview of the administrative experience program and pre-training on important work guidelines.
Going forward, a variety of supplementary programs will be offered, such as special lectures on employment utilizing generative AI, field trips to key district projects, and experiences in producing district promotional videos. These initiatives aim to go beyond simple work assignments by strengthening practical job skills and deepening participants' understanding of district administration.
Dalseo District expects that through this program, young people will gain direct experience in administrative settings, discover their own aptitudes and abilities, and develop a greater sense of understanding and engagement with the local community.
In addition, the district plans to create opportunities for youth perspectives and ideas to be naturally incorporated into administration, thereby establishing a virtuous cycle in which both youth and administration grow together.
Lee Taehun, Mayor of Dalseo District, stated, "I hope this administrative experience program serves as a starting point for young people to discover themselves, learn the value of collaboration and communication, and take on greater challenges. Dalseo District will continue to serve as a strong stepping stone to ensure that youth have fair opportunities and can plan for their futures."
