North Gyeongsang Agricultural Specialty Mall 'Saiso' Surpasses 54.2 Billion Won in Sales Last Year... 94 Farms Achieve Billion-Won Sales

On January 12, it was revealed that Saiso, the agricultural specialty product shopping mall operated by North Gyeongsang Province, recorded a total sales amount of 54.2 billion won last year, marking a significant growth of 8.3% compared to the 2024 sales figure of 50 billion won.


In addition, the number of members-a key indicator of online shopping mall growth-surged by 23.7% to reach 297,476. Over the past year alone, 56,978 new members joined, a figure comparable to the population of a small city, demonstrating explosive growth.

Furthermore, according to the sales status information released together, there were 94 so-called “billion-won sellers”-farms that achieved annual sales of at least 1 billion won. By product category, there were 26 in processed foods, 23 in fruits and vegetables, 13 in grains, 12 in livestock products, 11 in forest products, 6 in seafood, and 3 in eco-friendly agricultural products, indicating that high-performing farms emerged across all sectors.


The highest sales by a single business were achieved by a sesame oil and perilla oil manufacturer, recording 2.56 billion won. The most orders for a single product were for the Dakgalbi set, with 25,010 orders, demonstrating that Saiso has established itself as a major source of income, far beyond just a promotional platform.


According to a North Gyeongsang Province official, as Saiso continues to establish itself as a high-sales agricultural specialty product shopping mall, the sharp increase in new members is making the outlook for Saiso even brighter this year, expressing confidence in Saiso’s continued growth.


Meanwhile, Saiso, the hometown marketplace of North Gyeongsang Province, was launched in 2007 to facilitate direct online transactions of the province’s outstanding agricultural specialty products. Over 19 years of steady growth, sales have increased 281-fold, membership has grown 120-fold, and the number of participating farms has tripled compared to the first year of operation. Saiso is now recognized as the leading example among online shopping malls operated by local governments nationwide.


Park Chankuk, Director of the Agricultural and Livestock Distribution Bureau of North Gyeongsang Province, stated, “The trust and word-of-mouth built up over many years have made Saiso what it is today,” adding, “We will continue to make Saiso the standard for reliable online direct transactions, delivering fresh and high-quality agricultural specialty products at reasonable prices.”
