Guidance Period in January
Immediate Towing to Begin in February
Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on January 12 that it will implement a "designated parking system" for shared mobility devices on the upper level of Unjeongjungang Station and nearby pedestrian walkways, aiming to ensure pedestrian safety and address the indiscriminate abandonment of shared mobility devices in the area.

This measure is a follow-up to ongoing discussions with shared mobility rental companies regarding the issue of abandoned devices on the upper level of Unjeongjungang Station. It was introduced to prevent safety accidents that may occur on the station's upper level and surrounding walkways, which experience heavy pedestrian traffic.
To operate the designated parking system, the city removed two existing parking zones on the upper level of Unjeongjungang Station and established seven new parking zones near the station, providing users with spaces to return their devices.
During the initial phase in January, the city will conduct a promotional and guidance period to raise public awareness of the "designated parking system." Starting in February, any shared mobility devices returned outside the newly designated parking zones will be immediately towed to ensure the effectiveness of the policy.
Cho Chundong, Director of Road and Traffic, stated, "The area around Unjeongjungang Station has heavy pedestrian traffic, and the disorderly abandonment of shared mobility devices poses a significant risk of safety accidents. We will work to create a safe and orderly pedestrian environment through active cooperation from both users and rental companies."
