Warning: Rise in Impersonation and Fraud Amid Black & White Chef 2's Success
Chef Seongjae Ahn, currently serving as a judge on the Netflix variety show "Black & White Chef 2," has urged consumers to exercise particular caution regarding a scam involving impersonation of his fine dining restaurant, Mosu Seoul.

On January 10, Chef Ahn posted a message on his social media stating, "Mosu does not issue such tickets. I hope no one else falls victim to this scam," along with a photo. The photo displayed the English name "Mosu Seoul," the date and time of January 24, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., and Chef Ahn’s name and signature. This was in response to a recent post on a secondhand trading platform offering a fake "Mosu Seoul dining voucher" for 1.2 million won. In reality, Mosu Seoul does not issue any vouchers or tickets, and all reservations are made exclusively through official channels.
Mosu Seoul is a leading fine dining restaurant in Korea, awarded three Michelin stars in the 2023 Michelin Guide. After about a year of restructuring, it reopened in March 2024 and once again drew significant attention. However, following the reopening, there was a scam incident in March of last year, where a fraudster impersonating a KT employee claimed there was an issue with the phone line due to a nearby fire, induced call forwarding, and then tricked customers attempting to make reservations at Mosu Seoul into sending deposits to a fake account.
Meanwhile, "Black & White Chef 2," where Chef Seongjae Ahn appears as a judge, continues to enjoy global popularity on Netflix. According to Netflix’s official site Tudum, as of January 8, the program ranked third in the global Top 10 Non-English Shows category and has consistently remained in the top ranks since its release. In Korea, it has held the number one spot for three consecutive weeks, demonstrating its high popularity. However, the show’s success has led to an increase in impersonation and fraud targeting famous chefs and high-end restaurants, making it essential to verify official channels when making reservations or transactions.
