To select participants for the public work project, the city accepted applications in November last year. A total of 550 people applied, resulting in a competition ratio of 4.7 to 1, and 119 participants were selected.
The selected workers will be assigned to a variety of fields, including environmental beautification in areas with concentrated illegal dumping, digitization of building registers, safety management for users at the Goyang City drone airfield, and operation and management of public facilities such as the city’s brand tourism souvenir center.
Eligibility requirements for the public work project include being unemployed or without a regular income, having assets below 480 million won, and a household income at or below 60% of the median income. Applicants must be Goyang residents aged 18 or older who are capable of working. Those under 65 will work 25 hours per week, while those 65 and older will work 15 hours per week. Wages will be paid according to the 2026 minimum wage (10,320 won per hour), along with additional allowances for incidental expenses, weekly holidays, and monthly leave.
The city plans to operate the project effectively so that by providing temporary jobs to vulnerable groups, participants can supplement their income for a certain period and gain experience with public sector jobs, which will help them find stable employment.
The public work project is conducted in three phases throughout the year. Applications for the second phase will be accepted at administrative welfare centers corresponding to each address in March, with work scheduled to begin in May.
