The Korea Meteorological Administration announced, citing foreign monitoring agencies, that a magnitude 5.1 earthquake occurred at 1:15 p.m. on January 11, 2026, 65 kilometers east of Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. The epicenter was located at latitude 39.60 degrees north and longitude 141.90 degrees east, with a depth of 60 kilometers.
