Held under the theme 'A Bold Narrative for Shinhan's Future,' this year's management strategy meeting was extended by one day compared to previous years and took place over three days and two nights. To strengthen innovation and execution, all executives participated in an intensive discussion session. Chairman Jin Okdong personally presided over and led the meeting without a separate moderator.
The first day began with a lecture titled 'The Inevitable Future of Finance,' delivered from the perspective of external experts, during which the crises and challenges facing Shinhan Financial Group were shared. This was followed by a discussion in which participants analyzed the causes of failure based on their own experiences, using the pre-assigned task of preparing a 'personal fake innovation report.' Special lectures on writing and image-making were also held under the theme of a leader’s essential qualities-appearance, speech, writing, and judgment (sin-eon-seo-pan).
On the second day, all participants created their own Mandal-Art charts. The Mandal-Art chart is a planning tool that involves setting eight detailed goals and 64 specific action plans to achieve a core objective. It is known for being used by baseball player Shohei Ohtani during his high school years. In the afternoon, a time-unlimited intensive discussion was held on the topic 'Real Innovation for Our Company,' with CEOs from group affiliates also participating. On the third day, the 'Real Innovation Competition' took place.
Chairman Jin Okdong devoted special effort to this management strategy meeting, planning the theme, discussion format, and selection of speakers since August of last year. He also personally presided over and led the meeting without a separate moderator.
Chairman Jin emphasized that leaders should have a sense of ownership and responsibility in driving innovation. He stated that, based on the essential premise of fulfilling their duties as corporate citizens, business leaders must demonstrate strong execution for the future of the organization. He called on the management team to "become the spark of innovation and enhance Shinhan’s future competitiveness."
