Situation Assessment Meeting Held on Uiseong Wildfire
On January 10, Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-joong convened a situation assessment meeting regarding the wildfire that broke out in Bibong-ri, Uiseong-eup, Uiseong County, North Gyeongsang Province. He ordered, "The Korea Forest Service, the National Fire Agency, North Gyeongsang Province, and Uiseong County must swiftly deploy all available equipment and personnel to make every effort for the early extinguishment of the wildfire."
Minister Yoon further stated, "In particular, promptly evacuate residents from areas at risk of being affected by the wildfire and take preemptive measures such as establishing firebreaks to prevent any casualties. Above all, ensure the safety of firefighting personnel," he emphasized.
According to fire authorities, a report of a wildfire in Uiseong-eup, Uiseong County was received at around 3:14 p.m. that day, and emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene. At 3:36 p.m., the fire response was elevated to Level 1, and at approximately 3:41 p.m., it was further raised to Level 2.
Kim Seung-ryong, Acting Commissioner of the National Fire Agency, also instructed, "Thoroughly establish fire defense lines and prevent the spread of flames to nearby residential areas and temples. Provide maximum support with all available firefighting resources, including helicopters, and ensure that on-site personnel strictly wear their personal protective equipment."
