Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) visited the site of 'CES 2026', the world's largest IT and home appliance exhibition, embarking on a comprehensive initiative to secure future growth engines for the city.

On January 9 local time, Mayor Lee Donghwan and the city delegation visited the Las Vegas Convention Center in the United States to gain insight into global advanced technology trends and encourage participating companies from Goyang City.


They also met with officials from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) to discuss attracting international events and future cooperation plans.


CES, organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), is the world's largest technology exhibition, with companies, global investors, and experts from more than 150 countries participating annually. It is recognized as an international event where attendees can observe technology trends across future industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, mobility, and digital health.

This year's CES featured participation from leading Korean conglomerates such as Samsung, LG, and SK, as well as IT companies based in Goyang City. A total of five companies from Goyang participated: Quaternion Co., Ltd. (unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturing), EnergyX Co., Ltd. (artificial intelligence platform), Smart Medical Device Co., Ltd. (medical device manufacturing), Yoon Ergonomics (ergonomic desk manufacturing), and Gems Healthcare Co., Ltd. (medical device manufacturing). These companies are showcasing their proprietary technologies and products at the exhibition.


The Goyang City delegation visited the booths of major companies such as LG, Doosan, and Hyundai Motor Group at CES that morning to explore trends in future industrial technologies and confirm global technology trends. By closely monitoring overseas market movements, they plan to seek policy support measures for fostering high-tech industries in Goyang City.

Meanwhile, on the previous day, January 8 (local time), the city delegation visited the booth of Smart Medical Device, a local company, to listen to the challenges faced during overseas exhibition participation and discuss practical support measures for expanding abroad.


Afterwards, the delegation visited the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCVA), a world-class exhibition facility that hosts major international events, including CES. The center is recognized for its global competitiveness in operating large-scale exhibition infrastructure and attracting international events.

The delegation received briefings on the operation of large-scale international exhibition and convention events, as well as exhibition infrastructure management practices, and discussed cooperation plans for attracting international events. They also proposed ongoing collaboration in the exhibition and convention sector.


Dan Hayes, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Las Vegas Convention Center, stated, "We have great interest in the partnership proposed by Goyang City and look forward to building a cooperative framework going forward." He added, "We share the view that continuous exchange and cooperation will enable both cities to establish a global partnership in the exhibition and convention industry."

An official from Goyang Special City said, "Attending CES is an opportunity to understand the latest technology trends and directly hear on-site feedback from local companies participating in overseas exhibitions," adding, "We will continue to review policies to support companies and promote the development of the exhibition and convention industry."
