Kim Kyung, a Seoul Metropolitan Council member from the Democratic Party of Korea, who is under suspicion of delivering 100 million won in so-called "nomination funds" to independent lawmaker Kang Sunwoo, has reportedly submitted a written confession to the police admitting to the charges.
According to the police and other sources on January 9, Councilman Kim recently submitted the written confession through his attorney to the Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, which is investigating the nomination fund allegations.
In the confession, Councilman Kim is said to have effectively admitted to the allegations, stating that he handed over 100 million won to Kang's camp during the 2022 local election period and later received the money back.
Meanwhile, the police are currently coordinating the return schedule with Councilman Kim's attorney, who left for the United States on December 31 for personal reasons.
