Construction Begins on "Young Square," Anchor Facility of Incheon Jemulpo Station-J Urban Regeneration Project

Incheon Urban Corporation (iH) announced on January 9 that it has recently begun construction of "Young Square," a key anchor facility of the Jemulpo Station-J urban regeneration project.

Young Square, with a total floor area of 9,552 square meters, will consist of two underground levels and seven above-ground floors. With a total project cost of 44.9 billion won, it is being built near Jemulpo Station as an urban regeneration complex cultural facility, with completion targeted for April 2028.

The facility will include a startup incubation center to support the era of artificial intelligence (AI) transformation, a multipurpose space for youth job support, a smart farm, a flagship restaurant, and other spaces aimed at revitalizing the local commercial district.

The area surrounding the project site is densely populated with educational and startup facilities, including Incheon National University Jemulpo Campus, Cheongwoon University, Jaeneung University, and Jemulpo Smart Town (startup incubation center). With a total student population of 25,407 in the vicinity, iH expects that the establishment of Young Square will generate significant industry-academia-research collaboration effects, particularly in future industry sectors.

Additionally, the Jemulpo Station Urban Public Housing Complex Project (3,457 units) is scheduled to break ground at the end of this year nearby, which is expected to inject new vitality into the Jemulpo Station area’s commercial district, which has stagnated since the relocation of Incheon National University.

An iH official stated, "Young Square is a symbolic anchor facility of the Jemulpo Station-J urban regeneration project," adding, "We will ensure thorough safety management and push the project forward without any setbacks."

Meanwhile, due to construction, the existing Jemulpo Station North Public Parking Lot (74 spaces) will be demolished. To minimize inconvenience for citizens, iH plans to meet parking demand by utilizing nearby auxiliary parking lots at Incheon National University (94 spaces), Jemulpo Smart Town (309 spaces), and the Government Complex (202 spaces).
