Hongcheon County in Gangwon Province is welcoming winter tourists by hosting the Hongcheongang Kkongkkong Festival, a signature winter event featuring ice fishing, winter activity experiences, and a variety of food and attractions along the Hongcheon River area.

Now in its 14th year, the Hongcheongang Kkongkkong Festival has established itself as an interactive festival centered around ice fishing on the frozen Hongcheon River, where families and tourists can enjoy various activities together. A wide range of programs are available for everyone from children to adults, offering visitors a unique winter experience.

Throughout the festival period, visitors can enjoy ice fishing experiences, winter play zones, hands-on events, and food stalls, with laughter and excitement filling the venue.

Hongcheon County plans to ensure thorough safety management and on-site operations during the festival so that visitors can enjoy the event with peace of mind. The county expects this festival to boost winter tourism and revitalize the local economy.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with the 14th Hongcheongang Kkongkkong Festival, Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) will operate the "Hongcheon City Tour by Mugunghwa Train," which combines the Mugunghwa train and a tour bus. This tour will run a total of eight times on weekdays and weekends from January 13 to 24. Applications are currently being accepted, and up to 40 participants per session will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
