The KOSPI is showing weakness. This is believed to be influenced by the decline in the share prices of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which rank first and second in market capitalization, amid net selling by foreign investors.

As of 10:11 a.m. on January 9, the KOSPI stood at 4,525.89, down 26.48 points (0.58%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreign investors recorded a net sale of 1.0386 trillion won. In contrast, individual investors and institutions recorded net purchases of 670.1 billion won and 313.1 billion won, respectively.
By sector, transportation equipment and parts rose by 2.73%, and construction increased by 1.05%. On the other hand, electrical and electronics, medical and precision instruments, retail, pharmaceuticals, and securities fell by more than 1%.
Among large-cap stocks, Samsung Electronics traded at 136,300 won, down 2,500 won (1.80%) from the previous session. SK Hynix also declined by 3.04%, and Samsung C&T dropped by 4.25%. In contrast, Hanwha Aerospace rose by 6.42%, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries increased by 3.26%.
The KOSDAQ stood at 937.45, down 6.61 points (0.70%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreign investors recorded a net sale of 118.7 billion won. In contrast, individual investors and institutions recorded net purchases of 82 billion won and 48.9 billion won, respectively.
By sector, non-metallics fell by 3.29%, while finance, machinery and equipment, pharmaceuticals, electrical and electronics, and entertainment and culture all declined by more than 1%. In contrast, metals rose by 1.83%.
Among large-cap stocks, Alteogen traded at 485,000 won, up 6,500 won (1.36%) from the previous session. Pharmaresearch and Voronoi were also up by 5.89% and 3.20%, respectively. On the other hand, ABL Bio fell by 5.10%, while Ecopro BM and Ecopro both declined by more than 3%. Additionally, HLB, Peptron, and Samchundang Pharm all dropped by more than 2%.
